Since its founding in 1901, the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies has fostered a science-based approach to forest management, while training professionals for leadership positions worldwide. The Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry (GISF) extends this mission abroad, with programs of research, education, and outreach for today’s globalized environment.

GISF supports sustainable forest management around the world, with programs in forest health, physiology & biotechnology, certification policy, landscape management, tropical forestry, and private forests. In addition, the institute manages the School’s own working forest, Yale-Myers, located in north-central Connecticut. The School seeks current use support of GISF’s various programs and for the renowned Yale Forest Forum, which brings internationally acclaimed speakers and practitioners to Yale.
