Peabody Technological Innovation Fund

$ 100,000 - $ 2,000,000   Multiple opportunities

If every museum in the world could make the data associated with the billions of specimens in their collections accessible, the increase of knowledge about biodiversity and human culture would expand exponentially. The Peabody Museum is currently in the forefront of this effort. We are designing handwriting recognition software that deciphers the information written on each and every specimen label and then automatically transfers it into a searchable database. Geo-referencing software will show where each of these numerous specimens were found, giving scientists, policy-makers, and citizens throughout the world a global vision of biodiversity. Gifts of $100,000 would create an endowed fund in support of these efforts. A gift of $2 million would endow the Director of Technological Innovation position.
