Indian Institute for Advanced Nursing

$ 150,000

The health care system in India is significantly overburdened and HIV/AIDS threatens significant social and economic consequences in the country, especially in rural areas where physicians are scarce. Yale School of Nursing has partnered with the Clinton Foundation and the Indian Nursing Council to develop a center in Chennai, India—the Indian Institute for Advanced Nursing (IIAN)—to educate postgraduate nurses with specialized training in HIV prevention and care. The next phase of development for IIAN includes expanding the curriculum and attracting nurses from other areas of Asia and Africa.
