$500,000,000 1 opportunity
The potential of West Campus is tremendous, providing a platform for the University to launch new initiatives in research, teaching, and public outreach in both the arts and the sciences.
This ready-made research campus hosts six integrated research institutes dedicated to the study of cancer biology, nanobiology, systems biology, chemical biology, microbial diversity, and energy sciences. Research at the institutes and at the main campus is supported by core facilities providing expertise in genomics, high-throughput small molecule screening, computing, and analytical chemistry. These interdisciplinary research centers establish an innovative paradigm for addressing the most fundamental challenges in science and medicine and will dramatically impact the scope of research and discovery at Yale.
West Campus also holds great promise for Yale’s collections and programs in the arts – areas of signature strength for the University. The ample warehouse facilities accommodate browseable storage of art and artifacts from Yale’s museums and will provide a venue for special exhibits. Two core facilities for the arts focusing on conservation and digitization have sophisticated instrumentation for imaging and technical analysis of materials.
An unrestricted endowed fund to name the West Campus will directly support faculty recruitment, graduate student training, research programs, essential equipment acquisition, and public outreach efforts. This special gift represents a unique opportunity to promote Yale’s stature in both the arts and sciences by complementing infrastructure and resources that are available at only a few select universities in the world.
